Vacuum Forming Services

MM Glider Tech is able to offer Custom Vacuum Forming Service. We have used this process of thermoforming for over 18 years. At times specific customers have asked us to vacuum form certain items. We have extended our service to the public. This simplified version of thermoforming is a process by which sheets of plastic are heated to a soft state, stretched onto or into a single-surface mold, and then held against the mold by applying a vacuum force between the mold and the warm, malleable plastic. Once released from the vacuum, the plastic is an exact representation of the mold's shape.

The materials we use to vacuum form are 0.015 to 0.060 white and .030 to .090 black, high impact polystyrene. With this material we can make cockpit interior, fairings, fillets, wing tips, cowlings, wheel skirts and rocket parts. We also use 0.015 to 0.050 clear PETG plastic and clear polycarbonate. This is used for canopies, windshields and blister packing. In the last few years we have expanded our capability to automotive race car parts, architectural projects and other types of non aircraft parts. We will work with you one on one from product design to manufacturing to delivery. We provide quality-driven service and cost-saving solution.

The cost is determined by size and quantity of the part. Please call for estimates. We are also capable of making molds at a flat rate of $25.00 per hour with a two hr. min. We can produce large or small quantities.
