Die Cutting
MM Glider Tech is providing a die cutting service which can be utilized by manufacturers who would like high quality die cutting with a low cost. The dies and parts are NOT laser cut. Instead, the dies are steel rule razors that are mounted in plywood. The actual die is furnished by the customer or is made by a die maker that is familiar with our company and requirements. This together with our unique method of setup results in a very high quality part.
The die press that we use was Mfg. in 1910. With that type of
combination, the dies will last over 50,000 impressions or more. We do
it the "Old School" way!
Die prices range from $75.00 to $300.00 depending on the complexity.
The dies remain the property of the customer. The materials we are
able to die cut are 3" and 4" wide balsa wood with the maximum length
of 20". The cost of die cutting is a flat rate of $0.15 dry & $0.20
wet per impression.
We are able to cut 1/32" to 3/16" balsa and light plywood. Also 1/64"
to 1/8" plywood. Very light balsa wood can also be cut with a wet
process that has to be racked to dry. This has an added cost for a
total of $0.20 each. We can also cut stickers, 2mm & 4mm coroplast and
plastic parts. All wood can be supplied by us or by the customer.
Setup charge for die cutting is a flat rate of $15.00 per job (not per
die).
